Replacing a Senator

1. John McCain was a republican senator, who was known as a swing vote on many issues.
2. The Arizona Governor, Doug Ducey is responsible for replacing him.
3. The replacement will serve in office through to 2020.
4. McCain's replacement must be a republican, as he was one himself.
5. The May 30th deadline was missed to apply for a vote.
6. The senate is 51-49 right now in favor of republicans, and a vote jeopardizes that power.
7. Republican majority is at 51-49.
8. McCain was known to be a swing vote on many issues republicans felt strongly about, so a replacement allows them to eliminate the possibility of a swing.
