Religious Freedom

1. RFRA says government can't intrude on a person's religious rights unless it has a compelling government interest and is acting in the least intrusive way possible.
2. The law allows for discrimination rooted in religious reasons.
3. Pence says the law doesn't allow for exclusion from employment, service, or housing based on sexual orientation. 
4. Native Americans were denied jobs due to partaking in a hallucinatory drug during a religious ceremony. 
5. Advance America wanted to help businesses deny LGBT people service.
6. Hobby Lobby claimed that some of the forms of birth control offered by Obamacare went against their religion, so they didn't want it offered to their employees through them.
7. Two gay men went to a cake shop, looking for a cake for their wedding reception. They were denied service, as the owners said that they didn't want to endorse same sex marriage because it went against their religion. 
8. They argued that this was a case of discrimination based on their sexual orientation, and that the cake would have been made for them had they been straight. 
9. Phillips said he did not deny them service because they were gay, but because it was for a same sex marriage, which he was against on religious grounds. 
10. The administration filed a friend of the court brief supporting Phillips.
11. They argue that his cakes are an art form, and that in forcing him to make a wedding cake, they are forcing him to create art celebrating something he is morally opposed to.
12. The Colorado anti-discrimination act says that it's unlawful to deny goods or services to someone based on their sexual orientation.
